Zara Phillips the New Face of Rolex
Realizing the unique connection between Rolex and Royalty, Zara Phillips, the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II of England, has signed a contract to be the new face of Rolex watches. The Rolex watch chosen for Zara Phillips to endorse is the classic Rolex Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust. An elite equestrian who attained the title of Eventing World Champion in 2006, Phillips will receive £100,000 pounds and three free watches to appear in advertising for the Swiss watchmakers. The first Rolex advertisement-featuring Phillips appeared in Vanity Fair, which is a further display of the great value placed by Rolex in the acquisition of such a high profile representative in the United Kingdom and beyond. The advertisement shows Zara Phillips with her horse Toytown who carried her to victory in the Eventing World Championships.
In order to illuminate the Rolex watches that Phillips has been chosen to endorse, here is a more in-depth examination. A description of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust is as follows: Stainless steel case and bracelet. White dial. Date displays at 3 o’clock position. 18kt white gold bezel. Synthetic sapphire crystal. Hidden deployment clasp. Case diameter 26mm. 31-jewel chronometer automatic movement. Water resistant at 30 meters (100 feet). Rolex has supported excellence in human endeavors for over eighty years, and many of their spokespeople have been champions in their respective sports. Zara Phillips provides a unique combination of Royal blood and athletic excellence to the Rolex stable. Zara was voted 2006 BBC Sports Personality of the Year by the British viewing public. What is truly fascinating in the story line is that Zara’s mother, Princess Anne, was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1971. Clearly, like the lineage of one great Rolex watch design to the next, Zara Phillips follows in her mother’s footsteps of athletic excellence. Zara was made a Member of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2007 New Years Honours List for her services to equestrianism. Married to England rugby player Mike Tindall, Phillips has expanded her commercial activity since becoming a professional eventer to help meet the £500,000-a-year cost of maintaining seven horses. She receives no money from the civil list, but her mother, Princess Anne, gives her free accommodation. Imagine how proud the Queen must be to have her Granddaughter chosen to be the new face of Rolex watches.

Which Rolex Watch Does The Dalai Lama Wear
Yes, it is true. The Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, wears a Rolex watch, and he has worn a Rolex ever since he was a boy. The challenging question to answer is what kind of Rolex watch the Dalai Lama has worn and maintained for so many years. In the pictures of the Dalai Lama wearing the Rolex watch, only the back of the bracelet is evident.
According to the accepted tale, the American President Franklin Roosevelt gave the Rolex watch to the Dalai Lama. It is a known fact that Franklin Roosevelt wore a Rolex Day-Date. At the time, the Rolex Day-Date was not known as the Rolex Day-Date Presidential. The latter designation was assumed only after Rolex gave a Day-Date to President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Before the Day-Date officially became presidential, Franklin Roosevelt wore the Rolex watch in the White House. Putting two and two together, it makes sense that the President would give the young Dalai Lama a Rolex Day-Date. Since Roosevelt died in 1945 and the Dalai Lama was born in 1935, the Rolex watch was given to a mere boy. The Dalai Lama has maintained the Rolex watch in excellent condition for over half a century. How has he been able to perform such a remarkable feat?

The Dalai Lama has maintained the Rolex watch in excellent condition for over half a century. How has he been able to perform such a remarkable feat?
As historian Ron Gluckman writes: “Since childhood, the Dalai Lama has been an incorrigible tinkerer. He still has a Rolex watch given to him by U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt — a credit to his do-it-yourself skills.” Being a lover of fine machinery, the Dalai Lama naturally fell in love with his Rolex watch. Since the beginning, Rolex has been at the forefront of watchmaking in terms of artistry and precision. Rolex founder, Hans Wilsdorf recognized two major requirements for watches: 1) To keep accurate time, and 2) To be reliable for which Rolex has been recognized for almost as long as watches have been worn. Such quality clearly was recognized by the Dalai Lama at a young age when he already showed signs of the spiritual leader he would become.
In 1990, Teresa Watanabe observed in the Los Angeles Times, “The Dalai Lama is motivated by kindness and love, and his broad appeal hardly seems more complex than that. He seems caring, people say. He seems genuine. He lives simply, wearing a maroon and saffron robe every day. His one apparent luxury, a Rolex watch, was a gift from Franklin Roosevelt. He actually seems to practice what he preaches, the rare leader who has managed to stay untarnished by any hint of personal scandal.” Like how the Rolex watches, which he loves, have come to represent the very best in luxury watches, the Dalai Lama has come to represent the very best in humanity. In a strange way, it makes perfect sense that such a man would choose to wear a Rolex watch. Still, we wish to know without any question or doubt, what model of Rolex is on the wrist of the Dalai Lama? Is his watch a Rolex Day-Date, or is it another one of the stunning Rolex watch models?

Saddam Hussein’s Rolex To Be Auctioned $150,000
Before being deposed by American forces and executed by his people, Iraqi Dictator Saddam Hussein was known for his love of luxury, clearly represented by his custom-made, diamond-studded gold Rolex watch. Unlike the majority of Hussein’s loot, the Rolex watch did not end up in the hands of the American military. Instead, Saddam’s right-hand man Haitham Wahaib is putting the Rolex up for auction, along with other valuables, in order to raise $4500,000 for Iraqi schools. But how did Wahaib end up with the Rolex in the first place? Although his tale appears incredulous on the surface, it is worth repeating. As reported by Mark Nicol in The Daily Mail, the story is as follows:
It was the most lucrative day’s work that Haitham Wihaib will ever do. His boss Saddam Hussein had just spent hours in a Baghdad palace with one of his many mistresses. As the Iraqi dictator emerged and headed towards his chauffeur-driven Mercedes, it was Wihaib’s job - as his head of protocol - to check that he had not left anything behind. “To my surprise I saw his £100,000 gold Rolex sitting on a bedside table,” recalled Wihaib. “I ran after Saddam and stopped him just before he got in the car. I said, ‘Your Excellency, your Excellency, you left your gold Rolex behind.’ When he turned to me, I had never seen such a satisfied look on his face. He had clearly had a very pleasurable afternoon. He smiled and told me to keep it.”
The custom-made Rolex has dozens of diamonds laid into the watch face and the bracelet. At the very pinnacle of luxury, the watch represents the incredible quality and precision of the Rolex watchmakers. The Daily Mail confirmed that the watch is genuine and the valuation is accurate. Long before the Iraq war that led to Saddam’s fall, Haitham Wihaib had a bad falling out with his master and was imprisoned. After being released, he managed to smuggle his collection of Saddam’s valuables out of Iraq and defect to Great Britain in 1994. Although he worked for the dictator for over twenty years and was his chief of protocol, Wihaib has never worn the gold Rolex given to him by the Iraqi dictator. In regards to his hiding of the watch, Wihaib said: “All Saddam’s bodyguards were very jealous so I never wore the Rolex in Iraq. They would have chopped my arm off for such a watch.”
In closing, it is fascinating to note that Saddam’s regime often altered expensive Rolex watches with faceplates depicting the leader. Amazing as it sounds, these symbols of Western power and affluence were greatly admired by members of the anti-Western Ba’ath party or so the story goes. Although Saddam Hussein would deface a Rolex watch given to his supporters, the authenticity of his own custom-made Rolex was kept and maintained. It will be intriguing for Rolex enthusiasts to see how high the price goes for Saddam’s jewel-encrusted Rolex watch.

Rolex Watches now given to College Football Players
Rolex: The BCS College football rankings are quickly gaining mainstream media attention, so much so that the NCAA now allows Rolex watches to be given to Heisman Trophy contenders such as Tim Tebow of the University of Florida, Chase Daniel at the University of Missouri, and Dennis Dixon at the University of Oregon.
The prestigious Davey O’Brien award, named after the famed TCU (Texas Christian University) football player, includes a $10,000 tuition scholarship and a Rolex watch. Tim Tebow was the winner in 2007 and former winners include Troy Smith of Ohio State University, Vince Young of the University of Texas, and Jason White of Oklahoma University. This year’s contenders will likely include Graham Harrell of undefeated Texas Tech University (TTU), Colt McCoy of the University of Texas (UT), and Mark Sanchez of the University of Southern California (USC) .

The Davey O’Brien National Quarterback award, in its own words, “recognizes champions on the field..and encourages promising athletes’ academic and career success through scholarships and support.” So what exactly is this “support”? In Tim Tebow’s case the scholarship was $10,000 and the “support” was an engraved trophy and a Rolex watch! In a time where both Reggie Bush and O.J. Mayo were accused of accepting gifts while playing college sports should we really be giving college football players Rolex watches?
The NCAA and BCS have been under a lot of heat for using the BCS bowl series (Rose Bowl, Holiday Bowl, Sugar Bowl, etc.) as a way to generate more tv advertising revenue and ticket sales versus using a traditional playoff system like in the NFL. Pete Carroll, head coach of USC, is furious about this as his USC Trojans went undefeated several years back, only to not make it to the BCS Championship college football game. Joe Paterno, head coach of Penn State University, and Charlie Weis, head coach of Notre Dame University have also spoken out about this. So does giving out Rolex watches as gifts to players only fuel the fire?

Ultimately, it may just be that a Rolex watch, in particular, is really the only appropriate gift in this instance. The Davey O’brien award, for example, is designed to commend a player for his leadership, accuracy, and enduring character. No other watch brand but Rolex is so devoted towards it accuracy and quality of its product. In fact, almost all other watch brands have resorted to using generic watch movements, over the years, whereas Rolex still uses hand-made movements after nearly 100 years of manufacturing. Rolex even donated a significant amount of money to Oklahoma State University, another BCS Championship contender, to help develop out a watch-making school at OSU and Rolex is the only watch brand that gives away 100% of its annual profits to charity every year, essentially operating the company like a non-profit. These ideals fit hand in hand with those of the BCS and NCAA and the Davey O’Brien award.
After all, can we really be that upset with Tim Tebow receiving a Rolex? Tim Tebow could have joined the NFL last year but stayed with the Florida Gators to try and take them to a SEC and BCS championship. In addition, he has made missionary trips to the Philippines, visiting schools, churches, and hospitals to help the poor and disabled find hope in their lives. Religious beliefs aside, it seems like he is indeed a selfless person and, if anyone deserves a Rolex because of his character, it is none other than Tim Tebow of the BCS Championship-contending University of Florida Gators.

Rolex Watch Blog: Rolex Watches
Watches not only tell time, they also send messages. Not the ubiquitous e-mail or text messages, but personal statements about their owners. For example, a Rolex reveals a certain class and style, not to mention an appreciation of quality and precision.Just as astute observers draw different conclusions about people from cars they drive— whether they’re luxury models, hybrids, SUVs, or minivans—so, too, do they discern meanings in someone’s choice of a watch.
Ever since Shakespeare’s time, a watch’s function has been secondary to its form, and today, its form is determined by its intended use: for sports, business, or formal occasions. This is why many people own three or more watches.
The first timepieces dates back to the 16th century, when Peter Henlein, a German locksmith, invented the first pocket watch. This invention was made possible by the development of mainspring and escapement mechanisms, which worked together, along with the balance wheel, to measure time. (“Escapement” refers to the unwinding of the watch, causing the ticking sound.) Henlein’s pocket watch—called the Nuremberg Egg because it was oval and bulky— only measured hours.
In the mid-17th century, the balance spring, or hairspring, was added to the balance wheel, dramatically improving its accuracy. Although Queen Elizabeth inspired the use of wrist watches among women in the late 1500s, men continued to use pocket watches because they were considered more masculine. In 1780, the self-winding pocket watch was developed in France that eliminated the need for manual winding. In 1922, the self-winding, or automatic, wristwatch was patented. Timepieces that use mainsprings and escapements have what is known as mechanical movements, with an analog display—a numbered dial with moving hands. These watches—the more expensive, the better—are the favorites of collectors and watch aficionados because of their fine craftsmanship and intricate design. Of these watches, the Rolex is without question the finest example of quality, craftsmanship, and elegance.
The other best-known type of timepiece has an electronic movement. Electronic movements have few, if any, moving parts and rely on batteries. They use tiny quartz crystals that oscillate at very stable frequencies to ensure considerably more accuracy than mechanical movements. These watches, frequently called quartz watches, also have analog displays. Quartz watches were first produced commercially by a Japanese watchmaker 1969; at the time they reportedly cost as much as a car.
Most consumers are familiar with digital watches; they were first produced in the ‘70s and are inexpensive because they can be mass-produced. Digital watches have electronic movements; what sets them apart is their liquid crystal displays, or LCDs, which present the time as blocks of numerals. Digital watches are appropriate for children and teenagers, and for people whose occupations make it impractical to wear a more costly timepiece.
Chronograph watches, first patented in the early 19th century, are preferred by athletes because of their stopwatch capabilities. In addition to the main dial that displays the time, chronograph watches can have one or more smaller dials, each with its own function: for example, to display day and date, register a specified quantity of hours, register a quantity of minutes, or show lunar phases. An example of the chronograph is the Rolex Daytona. Chronographic watches can have mechanical or electronic movements.
The choice of a particular watch is most often based on one’s lifestyle, place in the pecking order, discretionary income and personal preference. One can find a watch in the drugstore that tells time just as accurately as a fine Swiss watch with a six-figure price tag. The real difference? Each carries a different message. One’s decision of which watch to wear will tell more than just the time.

Rolex Enthusiast Jennifer Garner Names Her New Baby Girl Seraphina
Actress & Rolex enthusiast Jennifer Garner along with husband, actor Ben Affleck, welcomed a beautiful little girl named Seraphina Rose into the world at the beginning of the New Year. Joining big sister Violet, age 3, in the Garner-Affleck household; Seraphina was named after an order of angels in the Hebrew Bible known as the seraph or seraphim. Perceived in later Jewish imagery as a class of celestial beings with human form, the seraph evolved into the highest rank of Christian angels.
The parents did not reveal their personal reasons for selecting Seraphina, but the name has come into style in recent years. “It kind of follows from Angelina, which has gotten super popular because of Angelina Jolie, as a spiritual, heavenly name,” says Pamela Redmond Satran, who runs nameberry.com, “Ben and Jen really put Violet on the map,” Satran says. “They transformed it from what people saw as a dowdy, old lady name to a really cute, modern choice.” Serafina (alternate spelling) is also a Marvel Comics villain who first appeared in an X-Men story line in 2006. Although, it is unlikely that mom and dad considered the Marvel villain as inspiration; Garner and Affleck have played Elektra and Daredevil respectively, two Marvel Comics characters, on the big screen.
For years, Jennifer Garner has been known as a true Rolex enthusiast, seen publicly wearing a multitude of Rolex styles. Garner has favored the versatility of the two-toned Ladies Datejust with a blue dial and a fluted bezel, and the classic opulence of the Ladies Rolex President in yellow gold. With the arrival of their second child, will Ben Affleck treat his beautiful wife to the quintessential indulgence of a new Rolex? In the past, while dating Jennifer Lopez, “Affleck dropped $50,000 on a Rolex for his beloved and another for her mother” according to People Magazine. Today, as a husband and father, it seems that Affleck’s taste has moved from trendy flash to long term commitment and more refined luxury. Even the names of his children reflect a profound respect for history and sophistication.
The perfect gift for Jennifer Garner is one that complements her elegant taste and pledges continued happiness with Affleck and their children. Nothing but the most enduring timepiece would be suitable for Garner and so the Ladies Rolex Super President in lustrous 18k yellow gold with custom diamond lugs is the ideal choice. Such a beautiful watch is nothing less than remarkable, and perfectly reflects qualities that are embodied in the names of Garner and Affleck’s daughters. Ideally suited for an angel in human form, only Rolex could produce a watch that is so classic and so symbolic of Jennifer Garner and the values that are conveyed in every aspect of her life.

Rolex Watch Blog: Rolex Diamond Watches
The sturdy and solid diamond is the perfect symbol for the determined, strong-willed Zodiac signs of Aries and Taurus that represent those born in April. Such people are lucky to have the diamond as the symbol of their birthday. The diamond is also the traditional gift for the 10th and 60th wedding anniversary. Also, you can purchase luxury watches like a Rolex bejeweled with diamonds. This desirable stone has been treasured and worn by royalty for over 3000 years and is still considered to be the ultimate gift of lasting love.
Diamonds are a mineral and are created when carbon is compressed and exposed to extreme heat deep within the earth’s core. It can take a diamond over one-billion years to make its way to the earth’s surface after it has been formed. Diamonds are mined and found in streams and riverbeds. There is no substance on earth that is harder than a diamond. Diamonds can only be cut and polished by other diamonds and are the most durable stone in the world.
Diamonds come in a variety of colors other, such as yellow, pink, red, blue and green. Originally found in India, diamonds were eventually discovered in Brazil and Africa. Ninety-percent of the world’s diamonds now come from Africa, found in riverbeds and in mines.
The word “diamond” comes from the Greek word adamas meaning “indestructible”. Ancient Greeks believed diamonds were the “teardrops of the Gods”, while the Romans thought diamonds were “splinters of stars fallen to earth”. In early years the diamond was worn only by royalty in an unpolished form. Kings would stud their breastplates with diamonds for both decoration and protection. Since it was believed that wearing diamonds protected the wearer from malicious intent, kings would not be attacked during battle for fear the attacker would suffer terrible consequences.
The diamond symbolizes power and strength and is said to give the wearer traits of generosity and courage. It is also a talisman to protect the wearer from poisoning, although it is believed that diamond dust is poisonous to eat. This belief, however, may have come more from the desire to refrain miners from hiding diamonds in their mouths in order to steal them. In the Middle Ages it was believed that diamonds could heal disease by placing them in bed to warm up against the suffering.
The use of the diamond to symbolize love did not begin until 1477 when Archduke Maximilian of Austria presented a diamond ring as a gift of betrothal to Mary of Burgundy. Since that Royal moment, the diamond has become the symbol of eternal, everlasting love that is given as a promise to love a spouse forever. Diamonds have been set in rings, in ear rings, in necklaces, as well as in high end luxury watches such as Rolex. A diamond-studded Rolex is truly a modern symbol of luxury and class.
The perfect cut for a diamond is the 58-facet round brilliant cut, but diamonds are cut in many popular shapes such as the pear, emerald, heart, marquise, princess, and oval cuts. When choosing a diamond you should look for the clearest stone with the highest quality of clarity. The more perfect the diamond, the higher it will be valued.
The diamond is the most valued stone on earth and is the ideal symbol for those who celebrate an April birthday. Whether you are looking for a birthstone gift or want to give your partner the perfect symbol of your love, a diamond is the ultimate gift you can give.

Rolex Watch Blog: Rolex Datejust
Rolex has been one of the most luxurious watch brands for over a century. Its expertise in the field of watch making has made it the most sought after brand in the world of timekeeping. People feel extremely proud to own a Rolex. Over the years, Rolex has innovated many models, all of which have delighted their consumers. But none of these models are as representative of the company as the Role Datejust.
The Datejust was introduced in 1945 to mark the 40th anniversary of Rolex. Over the years, many changes were made to this model to keep up with the technological advancements in the watch industry. The earliest Datejust models were introduced with a coin edge bezel, which was later replaced by a new fluted bezel along with a larger crown. In the mid-50’s, Rolex introduced the Datejust with the cyclops-the magnifying bubble that is placed over the date on the watch’s crystal. In 1956, Rolex released a Datejust model called the “Thunderbird” that featured a Turn-O-Graph gold bezel.
Other significant changes made to the Datejust Rolex - making the model even more popular - are:
* The Quick-Set feature. This was added to the watch and allowed quick adjustment of the date function without turning the crown over and over again.
* The new sapphire crystal, in place of the old domed plastic crystal. This allowed better waterproof security and scratch resistance, thus improving the aesthetics and durability of the watch.
* The old pie-pan dial was discarded to match the smaller and slimmer profile of the newly introduced sapphire crystal.
* The smaller version of Datejust – the Oyster Date was introduced.
Today, you get both the Rolex Ladies Datejust and Mens Rolex Datejust at a size which is 80% of the original Datejust. The Two Tone Datejust models are also quite popular. The immense success of Datejust Rolex has led to the introduction of stainless steel, white gold and platinum models apart from the usual 18kt yellow gold. To make Datejust Rolex go with the recent trends, the options of a Jubilee bracelet, an Oyster bracelet and a leather strap are also made available.

Rolex Continues To Underwrite the Rita Hayworth Gala for the Alzheimer’s Association
Continuing the support it has given since 2003, Rolex underwrote the entire cost of the Rita Hayworth Gala for the Alzheimer’s Association, which took place at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. Attendees at this year’s event included Dan Ackyroyd, Ivana Trump, Bryant Gumbel and Deborah Norville. Since 2008 marked the 25th anniversary of the gala, which was started by Princess Yasmin Aga Khan to honor the memory of her mother, actress Rita Hayworth, the star-studded event was nothing less than inspiring in 2008. With no expense spared with the support of Rolex, the party raised millions of dollars. Since its inception, the Rita Hayworth Gala has succeeded in raising more than $50 million for the research and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. Since Rolex has joined the team in 2003, the event has become one of the most profitable charitable nights of the calendar year.
Since the very beginning, Rolex has been known as a creator of luxury watches of the highest quality and precision, setting both endurance and performance records. Side by side with the very best watches, Rolex also has supported philanthropic causes since day one. In World War II, Hans Wilsdorf replaced the Rolex watches that had been stolen from British prisoners of war, allowing them to defer the cost until after the conflict. Wilsdorf had a entrepreneurial vision in both the business and the philanthropic worlds, believing his company could make the very best watches while helping to support charities and causes across the globe. Upon the death of his wife in 1944, Wilsdorf established the Hans Wildorf Foundation in which he left all of his Rolex shares. The establishment of the foundation would guarantee that a good percentage of the company’s future income would go to charity. The company is still owned by a private trust, and shares are not traded on any stock exchange. As a result, Rolex is a huge supporter of philanthropic events and charities.
The decision by Rolex to continue to underwrite the Rita Hayworth Gala in order to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association is a perfect example of Wilsdorf’s vision coming true. Princess Yasmin Aga Khan experienced the pain of the disease when her mother, one of the most celebrated stars of the 1940s, experienced an onset of Alzheimer’s disease extremely early in her life. Alzheimer’s Association-funded researchers have made great strides in diagnosis, treatment and interventions. If he were alive today, Hans Wildorf would be proud that Rolex is supporting such a worthy cause. Mind you, he also would be astounded by the continued innovation and quality of Rolex watches.

Roger Federer Rolex Watch
Roger Federer, the famous tennis-star, chooses to wear a Rolex Oyster Day-Date Watch. This is also the watch favored by many movie-stars, CEO’s and American presidents, including Eisenhower, Kennedy, Nixon and Ford.
This Rolex watch is known in America as the ‘Rolex Day Date President’. The chairman of Rolex presented President Eisenhower with an 18 kt Datejust, one of the company’s exclusive watches, in 1948 to celebrate the Allied victory over the Nazis in World War II. In 1956 Eisenhower’s watch needed a new bracelet. The new bracelet with concealed clasps was nicknamed the ‘President’s bracelet’, but soon the Day-Date watch was also nicknamed the ‘President’.
This may have been because the Day-Date watch was introduced by Rolex in the same year – 1956. Highly praised for its innovation, Rolex’s new watch was the first to show the date of the week spelled out in full and the second model was the first to be called ‘Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified’ because its accuracy was within three plus seconds per day.
Rolex soon introduced other innovations to the watch. The addition of the ‘Hack feature’ in 1972 allowed the second hand to be stopped so that the owner could set the time. The ‘Quick Set Feature’ enabled the owner to set the time by pulling the button on top of the watch and twisting it around to move the hands, instead of laboriously turning the crown of the watch around.
The new sapphire crystal feature ensured that the watch was more scratch-resistant and durable. The new watches were also slimmer and smoother than the early Day-Dates, which were heavy and bulky.
Rolex introduced a new version of the Day-Date this year. The new Day-Date watch, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date II, features a Parachrom-blu hair-spring and Paraflex shock-absorber which makes it more resistant to shock and magnetism.
Prestigious and classy, the Rolex Day-Date is available in white-gold, yellow-gold, rose-gold and platinum. Considered a man’s dress watch, this luxury watch is priced at above $20,000.00. The extremely elegant style of this watch and Rolex’s new innovations will continue to ensure that it remains a fashion icon.
Roger Federer, perhaps the greatest tennis player of all time, cannot run for President of the United States because he is a Swiss Citizen. Most likely, he would never want to be President of the United States, having vaulted to the status of a legend in his own profession. With a Rolex Day-Date President watch on his wrist, however, Roger can feel like the President of the world with a smile and with true class.

Paris Hilton Chooses Rolex Over Her Personal Line Of Watches
Instead of promoting her own line of expensive wristwatches, Paris Hilton chooses to wear a Rolex wristwatch from her extensive Rolex collection. Together with watchmaker Pascal Savoy, Paris Hilton introduced a jeweled watch line at the Baselwood 2007 fair. Although she took initial photos wearing her watches, Paris refuses to wear the wristwatches out on the town. Whether the town is Hollywood or New York, Paris announced that she prefers wearing a classic timepiece like a Rolex. She would never abandon her Ladies’ Rolex.
To avoid being tacky, Paris Hilton chooses to wear a Rolex and not her own line of wristwatches and diamond jewelry. After all, Paris understands that Rolex and class practically are synonymous in High Society. As the Kern Valley Sun recently wrote: “Who are these “Rolex Cowboys”? According to the Animal Welfare Institute, among them are Paris Hilton . . . and other Forbes 400 trillionaires” (November 23, 2008). For a century, Rolex wristwatches have represented the height of quality and precision. As a socialite, Paris Hilton does her best to maintain a certain image. While she was dating Good Charlotte lead guitarist Benji Madden, Paris often was photographed with a Rolex Daydate on her wrist. She clearly was influenced by Benji’s passion for Rolex. In picture after picture, Benji could be seen wearing a Rolex wristwatch, including a Rolex Datejust and a Rolex Day Date Presidential.

Called a “marketing genius” by Hayden Panettiere (the star of Heroes), Paris has always understood the key role in fashion of diamond jewelery and expensive watches, and she knows Rolex is the height of fashion. Even in a tough economy, Paris refuses to let down her Rolex standards. In the Paris Hilton Biography on TV.com, the writer describes her laissez-faire attitude at the Baselwood Fair: “Paris was in town to promote her new line of watches. As well as forgetting where she was, she also admitted she snubs her own line of watches in favor of watches by Rolex”. Paris Hilton is a marketing and fashion force only to a certain point: No matter what is at stake, she rolls with her Rolex.

Matt Damon Wears and Gives Rolex Watches
Matt Damon believed in Rolex in the beginning, and such loyalty has remained even beyond the marketing deals of his successful film series. No matter what kind of watch the producers give Jason Bourne, Matt Damon wears a Rolex in his private life and gives Rolexes as incredibly generous gifts. But even Amazon.com knows Jason Bourne should be wearing a Rolex as expressed in a review of the last film on the Amazon site that, “with careful attention to detail and a plot that works like a Rolex, Ultimatum’s unrelenting pace never feels overblown.” The comparison makes perfect sense because no other luxury watch has both the dedication to quality and the record of accomplishment of a Rolex. When it comes time to surprise old friends, Matt Damon remembers this truth about the legendary wristwatch.
In 2002, the following story was reported in the London Sun: “Matt Damon went to a college reunion – and bought each of his 36 classmates a £2,200 Rolex watch. The Hollywood heartthrob’s generous gesture cost him almost £80,000. A pal said: “He wasn’t showing off – he just wanted to let friends know he hadn’t forgotten about them. It was a shock when he turned up. Everyone thought he would be far too busy hob-nobbing with the rich and famous.” What kind of Rolex Matt gave his classmates remains a mystery, but his generosity remains admirable and impressive.

In his own life, Matt Damon wears a vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer 1016, perhaps the most collectible of the Rolex watches. In the shot at the poker table, Matt wears his Rolex Explorer. After reviving the poker movie genre and poker in general with Rounders, Matt became an avid player in his private life. He wears a Rolex at the tables because the watch reminds him of the precision and focus needed to win when playing against the very best.
Matt’s Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer 1016 has “Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified” written above the six o’clock marker. Fitted on a Rolex solid link oyster bracelet, the watch has a black matte dial and is powered by a Rolex caliber 1570 rotor automatic. In a recent photo shoot with GQ, Matt is wearing another Rolex, but the only identification the magazine supplies is, “Watch by Rolex.”

At the beginning of the 21st century, AskMen.com noted that, “Matt Damon is reportedly set to become the new face of Rolex watches. Sources claim the hunky actor is currently in talks with bosses about signing a lucrative deal to advertise the luxurious watches. A source said: “He’s hugely popular and would be brilliant as the face of Rolex.” Unfortunately, such a deal was never consummated, but Matt’s belief in and dedication to Rolex has never wavered, and the actor continues to wear and give the watches to this very day.
Mark McGrath Has The Rolex Logo Tattooed On His Back
Singer-songwriter Mark McGrath of the hit band Sugar Ray is so passionate about his Rolex Submariner that he had the Rolex logo tattooed on his back. The former host of Extra TV from 2002 to 2008 and a guest judge on American Idol, Mark McGrath is a Hollywood party boy who truly enjoys the fruits of his fame. Whenever he is out on the town in Los Angeles, hitting the hottest clubs and the most exclusive parties, he is always wearing his Rolex Kermit. The Rolex Anniversary Submariner (16610LV) is known as the Rolex Kermit. In 2003, Rolex released the 50-year commemorative model with a unique green bezel and a redesigned dial. This popular model is the watch that Mark McGrath favors, although he also has been seen with a Rolex Datejust and a Rolex Explorer.
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner is a line of watches manufactured by Rolex, designed for diving and known for their resistance to water. The first Submariner was introduced to the public in 1954 at the Swiss Watch Fair. Copied by other watchmakers, the Rolex Submariner is recognized as a classic, and one of the most widely recognized luxury products in the world. The luminous triangle at the 12 o’clock position on the Submariner was initially intended to be red, but red turns out to be the first wavelength to be lost underwater. As a result, the initial Rolex testers asked that it be made white instead. The codename for the Submariner while under development was Frogman. Thor Heyerdal, the Norwegian anthropologist, wore a Rolex Submariner in his 1970 Ra II sea expedition. Initially waterproof to 100 meters, the depth rating was increased to 200 meters in 1954, then to 300 meters in 1979. The first Submariner with a date complication was launched in 1969, along with the first gold model. In 1979, the Plexiglas crystal was replaced with the synthetic sapphire crystal still used today.
Still, no matter how impressive the Rolex Submariner is to both deep-sea divers and watch enthusiasts, Mark McGrath has taken his love of the Rolex Submariner to the next level. McGrath is very proud of his Irish heritage and displays it by sporting a four-leaf clover tattoo on his right wrist. Keeping with the Irish-green theme on his left wrist, is a Rolex “Kermit” Submariner. As a well-known celebrity tracker wrote about celebrities and luxury watches, “You devote the majority of your life creating some beautiful and mechanically significant piece of art - and then a public figure is photographed wearing your product. It has to make you feel good about your work. In the case of Mark McGrath, the lead signer of Sugar Ray, he is such a Patron of the Rolex brand that not only does he diligently wear his Rolex Kermit everywhere he goes - He had the brand logo tattooed on the side of his body…Talk about great advertising!” When it comes to Rolex watches and the dedication of Rolex enthusiasts, nothing really seems all that surprising.

Lindsay Lohan Rolex Watches
A question that must be asked is whether the famous and infamous Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan has more Rolex watches or more love affairs with both men and women? There is little question amid the multitude of voices in today’s popular culture that Lindsay Lohan is a talented performer. Recently, however, Lohan’s most dramatic and eye-catching performances have taken place in her so-called private life. Her supposed committed gay relationship with Samantha Ronson went nuclear in the Miami airport over the New Year holiday with the two young women viciously screaming at each other. The Los Angeles Times reported hysterics and drama to the point where a flight attendant on American Airlines asked if they would like to disembark. Later, after they arrived and returned to their home in the Hollywood Hills, neighbors reported more screaming and glasses shattering. It is lucky Lindsay was not wearing her Rolex Daytona because the luxury watch would make quite a projectile weapon if thrown and not worn.
If Lindsay Lohan actually used her Rolex Daytona as a weapon, it most likely would have survived the impact. Rolex professional watches are known for their strength and endurance, even a gold and jeweled watch like Lindsay’s Daytona. Still, if Lindsay Lohan managed to actually damage her Rolex Daytona, she would have several more Rolex watches to choose from in her own personal collection. Lindsay Lohan tends to prefer wearing oversized Men’s Rolexes in both stainless steel and yellow gold. Yes, Lindsay is known for going through relationships these days faster than she checks in and out of rehabs. Beginning with Ronson, these relationships now include both women and men, which should continue in the future. Since Lindsay has been photographed in the past wearing more than one Rolex at a time and as many as three, there is no question that she loves the fashion and power that a Rolex watch represents in the popular culture. So does she have more Rolex watches than relationships, and is she willing to sacrifice her Rolex watches as projectile weapons whenever she breaks up with a lover?
Okay, more than a touch of irony is expressed in that last question. Hopefully, Lindsay will see the quality and precision reflected in each Rolex watch, and then attempt to mirror that quality and precision in her own life. In 2009, it is time for the talented performer to shift her performances away from her private life and return the drama and talent to her professional career. Lindsay Lohan’s love of Rolex watches reveals her inherent taste and respect for true quality. Now Lindsay has to learn to respect and love herself.

Lily Allen Rolls With Rolex and Records With Wiley
British pop sensation Lily Allen does not need British rap star Riley to ask her who has been wearing her Rolex because she is recording with him. The Sunday Mirror reported that Lily Allen wears multiple deluxe versions of the luxury watch, including a $95,000 dollar (Euro 75,000) Rolex Submariner that was given to her by New Look in 2007. Thanks to the success of the clothing line she designed for them, New Look presented Lily Allen with the super duper bling Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner in 18k gold and studded with diamonds. Single-handedly Lily Allen brought British pop music to its knees in 2007 with such catchy songs as “Smile” and “Alfie”. Her style and her songs are as spunky as Lily, who is noted for getting kicked out of 13 schools in her short 21 years of life. Accused of cultivating a gangster image, Allen seems to live her life by her own rules. Keeping with her gangster image, Lily also sports a gold Rolex Presidential watch.
Even more exciting, Lily Allen has collaborated with Wiley on the ‘Wearing My Rolex‘ man’s new album. “I always wanted to work with Lily since I heard ‘Alright, Still’,” Wiley told the paper. “It was weird ‘cos when I listened to it I used to sit there giggling thinking ‘this girl’s cool’. But then I realized she wasn’t just cool, she’d sold a million records. I respected her even more after that. The track we’ve done is a scorcher. This is the way I want to go. I want to push boundaries but I want to stay in the charts by making tunes that connect with people. It’s pop all the way from here.” Lily Allen has blamed her record company, EMI, for the delay of the release of her forthcoming second album, which is tentatively titled ‘Stuck On The Naughty Step’ which is now scheduled for a February release. The British like to think of her as Cindy Lauper 2.0, but in truth, she is a creation all her own, as precise and original as the Rolex watches she chooses to wear. Not only can the girl sing, but she has taste as well.
Wiley may still be wondering who is wearing his Rolex, but Lily Allen certainly knows her collection of Rolex watches is safe, and she might just let Wiley wear one for a while. Then again, Wiley certainly has his own problems lately. On November 2 2008, a fake BBC News Report was created and spread around the net claiming that Wiley had died. This rumor turned out to be false as on November 3 2008, Wiley’s My Space display name was ‘I AM NOT DEAD’. Luckily, Wiley is still kicking it and hanging with Lily Allen because they both make great music and they both love the bling of their luxury Rolex watches.
